L’artiste assemble des objets récupérés et tisse des liens sémantiques entre les images. Provenant d’archives personnelles, les projections vidéo forment autant de récits en perpétuelle construction et déconstruction. Ses pensées sont consignées dans des recueils composés de visuels issus d’internet et de poèmes qu’il écrit et emprunte. Pour témoigner des pressions politiques sur les minorités, l’artiste revisite le mythe de Shahmeran, une divinité kurde mi-serpent mi-humaine symbolisant la résistance au patriarcat. Sur une plaque en verre, il décompose puis transfère l’image d’une célèbre danseuse turque diffusée dans une émission de divertissement des années 2000. La danse, omniprésente dans sa vie comme dans son œuvre, se traduit par un acte de célébration et de contes- tation. Au cœur de l’exposition, il dépose des voitures miniatures en béton pigmenté sur des carreaux imitant du marbre, où deux vidéos représentent un mariage familial et son frère dansant. Certains objets jouent sur l’illusion du luxe, comme le logo Mercedes dont l’aspect est altéré. Sur le sol, le sel provenant de larmes évaporées cristallise la joie collective de ses souvenirs d’enfance. Dans une vidéo filmée au Kurdistan turc, l’artiste suit sa famille vers le tombeau d’un guerrier, un lieu de culte abritant un arbre à souhaits et où se cache un trésor que beaucoup ont tenté de découvrir. En mêlant les images d’archives et d’icônes populaire, Mehdi Görbüz tisse des connections rizo- matiques qui résonnent en chacun de nous.» Aurore Forray <img width="6000" height="4000" width_o="6000" évolue entre les cultures d’Islam et une intimité en marge des normes sociales ?   Penser la rhétorique du rideau*, c’est concevoir une alternative au coming out comme moment unique, irréversible et public de révélation de soi. Plutôt que d’imposer cette transparence totale, le rideau permet un équilibre entre ce qui se montre et ce qui demeure privé. Il définit un espace de négociation et de maîtrise de son propre discours, où chaque personne choisit ce qu’elle dévoile, à qui, à quel moment et dans quel contexte.  L’exploration collective de ces récits a été amorcée à l’automne 2024 par la commissaire d’exposition Inès Geoffroy avec les artistes Meryam Benbachir, Emma Bert Lazli, Reda El Toufaili Kanaan, Mehdi Görbüz, Amine Habki et Sido Lansari, lors d’une journée de performances et de lectures autour de leurs œuvres. Invitée par l’équipe de l’ICI à porter plus loin ces voix dissidentes, elle propose à chaque artiste de les faire résonner dans une installation personnelle afin de prolonger l’élan collectif né de leur première collaboration. Les espaces de création se font aussi refuge, où la notion de « famille choisie&nbsp;» rejoint celle de «&nbsp;famille artistique&nbsp;». &nbsp; &nbsp; Credit: Tassiana Aït-Tahar « Dans ma proposition pour le jardin de La Colle Noire, je m’inspire profondément de la relation de Christian Dior avec son souvenir d’enfance. Que ce soit au travers d’éléments biographiques, de récits mythologiques, ou de codes empruntés à la culture populaire avec laquelle j’ai pu grandir, je tente de nous emmener sur une réflexion de récits fragmentés et rhizomatiques. Soulignant ainsi la manière dont ces points de rencontre, mais également de ruptures, peuvent reconstruire nos rapports au monde.» Mehdi Görbüz Parfois disposés en amas ou bien seuls sur les restanques, les moulages en forme d’immenses coquillages de Mehdi Görbüz sont pensés pour ponctuer l’espace du jardin de La Colle Noire comme autant d’éléments organiques et poétiques organisés en un récit éclaté. Réalisées sur le modèle des anciennes piscines plastiques pour enfants, ces grandes coquilles Saint-Jacques aux allures botticelliennes dialoguent avec le jardin de Christian Dior, envisagé ici comme un lieu de mémoire inspirant, « comme un souvenir qui se fossilise, se cristallise. Ce sont des artefacts chargés de mémoire, des témoins muets d’une époque révolue, mais toujours vivante dans notre imaginaire. » Dans ce décor naturel, ses coquillages se font réminiscences essentielles évoquant tout à la fois le souvenir d’enfance de l’artiste comme la mémoire d’une mer millénaire qui aurait laissé là son empreinte sur les hauteurs de Montauroux. Originellement légères et ludiques, les coquilles ont été transformées en pièces denses et lourdes, mais cependant éphémères car destinées à lentement se désagréger jusqu’à se fondre avec les années dans l’environnement. Réalisées en chaux issue de la cuisson de roches calcaires à haute température, la composition de ces sculptures fait écho au sous-sol calcaire du terrain alors que d’autres, élaborées pour quelques unes en pierre de sel, ont été conçues pour fournir un apport minéral bénéfique au troupeau de moutons qui assure l’éco-pâturage des lieux. Mehdi Görbüz commente une œuvre traversée de matières organiques comme de récits : « ces relations entre le calcaire, la matérialité des coquillages ainsi que le lien historique et poétique fait entre To fathom what seems to lie outside of one’s own understanding is equivalent to a state of sucking emptiness, a space of (im)possibility. That which is considered certain is placed as a framework around it. This framework consists of partial perspectives that flow into each other, reinforce while also contradict each other. (1 2 3) Their simultaneity and equality create a fragmented picture of a larger whole.The gaps inbetween pose as black holes, uncanny and promising spaces of possibilities. Numerous attempts to fathom one’s own existence result in highly technical endless loops of data enrichment.&nbsp; Exploring one’s own environment contributes directly to one’s own self-understanding and offers a surface for reflection. Interrelations and dependencies become apparent, and the inevitable piles up. Confronted with ones own finiteness, embedded in a system that moves withinan unclear set of rules.&nbsp; Never stagnant, it reacts incessantly to its countless components.&nbsp; The body as the first material venue in the world (internal and external), archives, transforms and rejects. One is also what one is not. You know what you don’t know. You forget things that have happened and remember things that never happened. Memories manifest in physical bodies, spaces solidify in thoughts and are preserved and carried forward in eternal change.&nbsp; One’s own narratives are compared with those imposed from outside, emancipate themselves, hollow them out from within in order to (re)appropriate them. Basically, everything can be removed from its attributions; what appears to us to be certain was constructed using a variety of techniques.&nbsp; Language, science, historiography, religion - all identity-forming tools, created to classify things according to a certain self-image. Beyond this, there is speechlessness, silence, the unsayable and the indescribable. A dull, thumping, intangible space, comparable to the state before one’s own birth. The external world begins somewhere between the riverbed and the developing skin. Resting in a seemingly hermetically sealed bubble, exploring with the help of one’s own possibilities, the outcome uncertain. Les GIF, en tant que« ruines archéologiques d’internet », incarnent une forme de dialogue affectif, mais également une critique de cette surabon- dance d’images et de photographies. Chaque GIF que je reçois de ma famille devient une pièce d’un puzzle plus vaste, représentant non seulement des états émotion- nels, mais aussi une manière de naviguer à travers ces dynamiques culturelles. Ces GIF illustrent des roses scintillantes, des baisers animés et des étoiles brillantes, accompagnés de prières quotidiennes dans des typographies romantiques. C’est un moyen rapide et affectueux de faire savoir à une personne que l’on pense à elle, de lui souhaiter chance, prospérité, santé. La détérioration de la qualité des images, tant dans l’aspect numérique, que dans la technique du transfert rappelle le déclin de l’appréciation de ces messages au fil du temps en raison de leur surabondance, à l’instar des chaînes d’e-mails du temps de MSN. J’aime l’idée de faire cohabiter à la fois ces images internet chargées, faisant partie de mon quotidien, des images camps - pour reprendre les mots de Susan Sontag- , populaire, avec d’autre images d’archives familiale, de moments plus simple, et tenter de créer quelque chose de vernaculaire, des dialogues rizomatiques ou les liens métapho- rique et poétique se font par le biais de leur relation et de leur traitement commun. ` En soi, je tente de recréer une bibliothèque d’image messenger. Un mélange de GIF, de photos envoyées et de souvenirs. Le concept de transfert est au cœur de mon travail.Lorsqu’il s’agit de culture et d’identité, chaque acte de transfert est syno- nyme de perte. En tant que membre de diasporas, je me rends compte qu’il est impossible de « conserver » entièrement tous les éléments de sa culture. Chaque transfert s’accompagne d’un effritement des données identitaires. Ce projet explore alors la manière dont ces éléments essentiels peuvent disparaître, être effacés par le biais de la pensée et des formes. À chaque étape de ce processus, de nouveaux codes émergent, témoignant de l’adaptabilité de notre identité face à un contexte en constante évolu- tion. Mon travail s’inspire également de récits mythologiques comme celui de Şahmeran, où la transmission implique une forme de sacrifice, illus- trant comment la perte d’une culture peut être liée à la vulnérabilité de ceux qui la portent. Les photographies sont transférées sur des petites feuilles de métal découpées. J’aime leur matérialité, le rapport à la matière, et comment la lumière accroche au métal et change le statut et la relation que l’on a avec l’image. <img width="963" height="1652" width_o="963" Installation multimédia,matériaux divers ( archive video, assiettes souvenirs, coquillages en béton, ... ), 2021 Why are we going so fast ? Fait « état des lieux » de la capitalisation du territoire méditerranéen, pris d’assaut par le tourisme de masse. Une recherche quant aux facteurs et conséquences de ces rapports de force et de gentrification. Des bacs de coquillages en béton sont disposés dans le lieux d’exposition, échoués. Ils évoquent à la fois le mythe de la création de Venus, mais aussi, ces espaces de jeux de l’enfance. Un lieu héte- rotopique, des projections d’histoires et de fantasmes. Un espace fossilisé par le temps et des illusions devenues ruines mentales, échouées sur le sol. La désillusion d’un rêve. Les coquillages sont mis en regard d’une vidéo d’archive. Une femme se prélassant au soleil, dans son bateau en pleine mer, insouciante, elle vogue. Elle est comme l’allégorie de ces coquillages. À la dérive. Le son de la vidéo est reliée à une enceinte et fait vibrer une pille d’assiettes souvenirs en équilibre.
